Xelerator first to break 50 knots, first again to hit 55 knots!!!

In 2008 Sebastian Cattelan was the first man to break the magical 50 knots barrier and set a new Kitespeed and Outright Speed World Record. No multimillion dollar yacht won the title of "the fastest sailing vessel in the world" but a Xelerator Speedboard - handcrafted in Cape Town, South Africa.

Now just over two years later Sebastian did it again! Yesterday afternoon he was again the first to break the 55 knots barrier. With winds in excess of 45 knots and sand flying, Seb proved all critics wrong his channel in the Namibian desert works! He set a new World Speed Sailing record of 55,49 knots average over 500m!! An hour later Rob set a new record of 55.65 knots. He broke his right wrist and is out of action for the last day of racing. Today will be the Epic final of the 2010 Ludertiz Speed Challenge. More records??

This is from the Xelerator website, so I'm not pimping their stuff.
This is fantastic news, always new that this was going to happen. How long now till 60 knots goes? It may still be a bit premiture to say Kites are in a league of there own... F*^K it, they are and dont look like they will stop this trend for quite a while :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) Torsten

And... crazy Frenchman living in South Africa, first to 50 knots and now, first to break 55 knots. We could say the same for the brand of wetsuit he is wearing or the goggles he is now famous for. I think that no matter how you look at it, the guy is awsome and I hope he can be the first to 60 and hang on to it for a while. :!:
