Re: Brazil, flight info please!

True, but we flew to Kenya, and Thailand (with Qatar Airlines.......brilliant Airline.) and had an extra allowance of 10kg per person of sports equipment, and they said they were happy to take anything up to 2m in length at no extra charge. That was on top of the 23kg baggage allowance per person. T...

Brazil, flight info please!

We're looking at going to Brazil mid-november. Flights seem to be best with air Portugal, but their baggage sizes might prove problematic. They say on the website the maximum bag size is 158cm, that's the length, + width + height!!!! Not much good for kitesurfing kit. Oversized baggage would add €10...

Re: 2011 Kahoona 9m upgrade guidance please - 2016 Evo 9m worth the cost?

I upgraded from Kahoonas last year. I bought Blade Triggers, and am delighted with them. Easy to use, a bit quicker turning than the Kahoonas, and more usable when overpowered. If you can try them, I think you'll find them great, and the price is good too! I didn't try them first, but have been real...

rrd cotan fins.....advice needed

Hi, needing advice please. Just bought a rrd cotan 5'2" and need some fins. This is only my second directional so still a novice and was wondering what shape and size to get? It has a 5 fin set up so can be ridden as a thruster or a quad....again not sure about the difference between them. Any advic...

Re: Hi from N/Cambs

Definitely go for it, my other half learned in his 50s, is now jumping, backrolling, playing on waves, and getting handy on a directional board too!!! Don't tie yourself down to a specific number of lessons, your kite skills will certainly help with the learning curve, but don't get frustrated if it...

Re: 2015 Blade Trigger

I've got to agree with the reviews! We bought a 12m + 9m to replace our aging and much loved Kahoonas. The Blades are soooo easy to use, have a great wind range, easy relaunch, and quick turning. What more do you need?.......all this at around half the price of many of the cooool brands! I can't und...

Re: Ocean rodeo mako duke?

Thanks for the reply. Can I ask what sort of weight are you? And how long have you been riding directionals? Like you, I'll be riding mainly on mushy small waves and chop, so anything that smoothes it out helps the knees a bit! The only other board I like the idea of is the Axis Newave (like the Und...

Ocean rodeo mako duke?

I'm looking for a directional board, and bought a cheap surfboard to get to grips with riding directionals, and sort out gybing....so now, it's time to change and maybe spend a few pennies! I don't see myself as needing a full on down the line surfboard, but really like using the directional, so hav...

Dental implants in Hungary?

Well, it says off topic! So here goes! I'm considering dental implants, but the price in the UK is pretty steep, and having looked around on tinternet, Hungary seems to be an option, the standard of dentistry is high, and the prices much lower than here. Has anyone any experience of treatment in Hun...

Re: Kenya, kit transport?

Yep, Qatar came up trumps........23kg personal allowance + 10kg sports equipment, max length 150cm, so the surfboard will stay at home....... Can't wait!!!

Kenya, kit transport?

Planning a trip to Kenya in January, and trying to find airlines that will carry boards without charging the earth!
Ethiopian airlines have possible flights, but the info on their website isn't that clear, so if anyone has suggestions, or info, please pass it on.......Thanks

Re: Essaouira Morocco

Should be warm by then, not the best place in the world to learn......bit gusty near the shore, and no shallow areas.......Dakhla is better, but Essaouira is a lovely town with more tourist things to do.

Re: Strutless kites? the answer, or just more questions????

Thanks for your thoughts.......I'm very wary of these kite changes, I remember when Naish started the Sigma shaped kites.......seems they have gone down the route of all the 'alternative' ideas. I windsurfed for many years, and started on 'soft' sails with no battens, I can't imagine anyone wanting ...

Strutless kites? the answer, or just more questions????

Anyone tried any of the 'new' strutless kites? I saw one guy last year on a 'Cloud' strutless, but didn't manage to speak to him. The RRD Emotion looks interesting, as both of us kite, so end up carrying lots of kites, even though we share.......so less space per kite is a tempting thought! I'm curr...

Re: kahoona+ vs vector 2013

I'm biased as I have had Kahoonas for 3 years and really like them. Super easy relaunch, excellent depower, solid build quality, great wind range. I am beyond beginner stage now, and have no plans to replace the Kahoonas, can't say I have tried the Vector, but I personally don't like Cabrinha stuff....
