Re: Australia. . . Airline & kit?

I've flown to Perth with both Emirates and Malaysian in the past and had no problem with a surfboard size bag, so long as it was within the weight limit

Not sure I'd do Perth now, as I understand that places like Safety Bay are manic these days

One would presume not, as it doesn't sound like the rescue boat from CBK attended.

Re: hmmm your view on ebay kite purchase

Dacron (the Dupont name for woven polyester) used in the leading edge, and for dinghy sails, is of a much heavy weight than the rip stop used in the canopy, so will have a much longer life span. However, if Dacron is exposed to UV for a long period it will go very paper like and then tear exceptiona...

Slingshot Rally sound ideal for your riding.
Should be a few around second hand now, however (someone correct me if I'm wrong) they didn't come out until after 2010.

Re: hmmm your view on ebay kite purchase

well it will come back all ok. But when a new one is £1000+ this will have to do.. Not sure about expensive bit as they are fetching this sort of money all day long. I guess if your not following Best kites you wouldn't have seen that. It will last me a few years at least. I think some people think...

Re: hmmm your view on ebay kite purchase

Expensive It's 5 years old, in poor condition, had a lot of repairs (and in the leading edge), and finally it's a Best. I would always advise anyone to steer clear of a kite that has had the leading edge main bladder tube repaired. Any repair in this area requires the main front seam to be unpicked ...

Re: kite or board

The board is quite large so will help you get up and going in lighter winds, meaning you can get away with a slightly smaller kite.
This has the benefit of being faster moving so will help you with your jumping.

Re: Australia spot?

Woodies is currently suffering quite badly from car break-ins at the car park, so don't leave anything in your car if you go there. Safety bay is the best spot, it does get busy at times, however you can still find enough space to ride. From my trip out there earlier this year. Excluding the surfing,...

Re: Grab the HKA lubricant...

CBK can go to hell. Been paying membership for 4 years - probably kite there 3 times a year - if he thinks I am going to bankroll his pension he can dream on. I will now only use the beach for 'access' between the car park and the water - based on the law of the land, I am entitled to do so. And I ...

Re: Kite Prices

Part of the problem regarding second hand kite values is that the UK has a very small kite buyer base, of which many are (were) quite affluent (until recently!) who like to own the latest kite so buy new every year or so. The second hand market then gets flooded with one/two year old kit and the end...

Re: Kite Prices

800 + 50% = 800.5 Sadly not, that's a meaningless statement/equation (50% of 1 is 0.5, which is maybe what you meant) 50% has to be applied to a value/amount/quantity to have any meaning as it's a relative term So to summarise and put an end to the maths confusion: 50% of 800 is 400 50% of 1200 is ...
