Re: some safety stuff worth a ponder

good points, have often wondered what might happen should a line break and how the kite would behave.

Re: Trainer kite

I should save the money and go do a kitesurf course, as you have some experience on kites already you will pick up the kite handling skills pretty quickly. Main thing with typical bar system is to not pull the bar in when things go wrong :) (just makes the kite slam all that bit harder onto the water)

Re: Zero to Hero - Learn to foil board

At least get him riding well on a normal twin tip board. Chances are he might be put off with such a huge learning curve for the foiling....just learning to ride complete with a few face plants is hard enough to get used to. Good luck with it. Must say I am intrigued with those Foilers, how well do ...

Re: Kiteboarding alone

Its not a good idea to kite alone, I do because I have no choice in the matter...save for a few times in the year when I get to kite with other kiters. I used to kite in remote areas, but tend to stay in places where there is at least some people nearby, out walking their dogs or whatever. You will ...

Re: The twitchers are at it again!

I thank God for living in my part of the world, and feel sorrow for the crap you have to go through. Total opposite here, the kiter being rare enough to be photographed on a regular basis :)

Re: Hello

I don't see the need to go buying new kites as you improve, what would such kites do that your current kite cant? Def get some time finding the board that suits you. I had twin tips for a while and now just use a Mako (its more comfy and suits chop and waves better, and is a bit easier on my knees) ...

Re: Anyone care to own up?

Who exactly has right of way in this instance...? Kitesurfer on the water is harming no one surely?! Do you not think its possible that a kitesurfer flying close to an aerobatic display area could cause a distraction to the pilots performing the display? WTMW Only if one of the Pilots is a Kiter ma...

Re: Anyone care to own up?

Why an Idiot? had he started his session right in the middle of the Red Arrows display? Sure, one would think twice if a display was in full swing before venturing out. I would be more concerned if it were a Red Bull pylon race, now they do fly low! :)

Re: First Board Starts

All I remember was my board about to head into the wind, yet again, and I just thought 'no you f..kin don't!!' and twisted my hips to get it back downwind, and got that magic few yards. Something 'clicked' at that moment.

Re: First Board Starts

I spent many hours trying to suss that out, never lost my cool though...frustrated and annoyed yes, but never angry. That first blast, albeit for a few yards, was just pure nectar:)

Flysurfer Foil Kite? would pack down quite well...no pump, can take a hole or two and still keep flying. Foils aren't everyones ideal kite of course, but for out in the sticks locations...that's why I bought one:)

Re: which size kite and wind gusts or wind speed

I tend to have a good look at the water and see where the gusts are and how prolonged they are. My normal kite for most conditions is a 12mtr NRG (Liquid Force). The NRG, I found, handles some high winds where my old Best 12mtr Taboo would have been a bit too much. Prolonged lulls are the biggest pa...

Re: Increase run time

I think....you are letting your board come closer and closer to the wind, and losing power. Let me explain: as you start, keep looking to where you are going...try not to look at the kite too much....feel you are losing power? then aim the board a bit more downwind. As you do that, steer the kite UP...
