Re: Shinn 2016 Thread- the new spring release boards

plate.jpg by drilling holes, yes.. the wood core is very durable and I doubt you would see issues for a long time, you could line and seal them. Takes 8 Holes, but you could do with 6.. If you go right through the board you'd need something neat on the deck so you didnt hurt your feet.. Thanks Mike...

Edited - I meant kit - not kite.

I mean by drilling holes through the original Shinnster?

Re: Last two weeks in June...Scotland ?

We have the last couple of weeks in June booked off. We were thinking the Uists, Harris, Lewis etc. Have van will travel :) Is the wind there? Or maybe Ireland? Normally we go somewhere warm, but this year thought we would stay 'local' I'm beginning to think maybe not such a good idea   ...

Re: vacuum bags

I use them but don't use the vacuum. I lie on top of them to get as much air out as possible, then seal them. That gets them to a small size and easy to pack, but doesn't put too much pressure on them.

Situate foil [bbvideo=560,315]https://youtu.be/EfJJnNNN-KE[/bbvideo] Go Thierry! Well done to F-One for working on this development. As Thierry is showing, the riding can be done. The trickier part may just be getting the engineering sorted to rotate the foil. As can be seen from his previous video...

Re: Foil Boards

This "Beginner's Notebook" suggests that instead of trying to get the foil into a steady state by reacting to it, being proactive and always trying to make it do something, works better for learning.

Re: The 2015 SHINN Thread, the new year starts!

My guess is that with a heavier rider and therefore more power through the board, on the water, the flatter board will then become pretty much the same shape as the (more rockered when unloaded) board for the lighter rider.

Re: El Medano....next week

The forecasts I have been looking at might work out OK for your 10, but best to go by what they say as late as possible before you go.

Re: The safest way to launch - self launch!

I prefer the anchor launch. I put a stainless steel eyebolt into the top of a suitable rock where practical. I try to avoid spin launching because of wear on the kite and potential snags. This is one way to try to minimise sliding. Pile sand behind the leading edge at the point where you want the ki...

Thanks guys. They're all really cool pics. Ronnie - Are you taking me to the actual photographer or a photographer that takes kitesurfing pics? I looked through the Doca portfolio and there were no sunset ones. Blast - Could you please dig out some more please as you're on the right track there. PM...

Re: Dynabar V8

It looks well designed and is a good solid piece of kit. There are lots of options and I'll go with the basic hook sliding on the rope. Marc is excellent to deal with, so I have confidence that parts will be available when needed, and I've started needing already having lost a small part. It costs a...
