Re: Spec me a new winter suit

As per Joe's suggestion the O'Neill Mutant is a great option (without Jordy Smith's head!) and you could buy 2 for the price of an Xcel. It is my suit of choice for both surfing and kiting in spring/autumn/early winter, and I'm in probably one of the coldest water spots in the UK!! I just use a full...

Re: Surfboard fins

The cheapies are generally (as mentioned) pretty flexible, but I've lost/snapped so many expensive fins kiting that I've kinda stopped caring and only use my nice fins for regular surfing. How much you'd appreciate a set of expensive fins depends on how good you are and the proportion of riding you ...

Re: Low profile, minimalistic waist harness suggestions?

I use a Dynabar spreader and sliding hook on my Engine. I got mine before he developed the carbon spreader. Very easy to use any spreader bar you like though. I suspected he would become overwhelmed with orders!

Sell a kidney and get the Engine. You won't regret it!

Re: Bandit six

On a different note, have any bandit 5 or 6 owners flown the bandit 7? I tried the B7 10m today and I'm curious to know what you think of the new kite compared to the last couple (which felt quite similar to me). I guess the best way to describe the B7 v's the 5's and 6's is 'different but the same...

Re: Virgin Atlantic

Yup, a refreshing change indeed!

Antigua was good. Not much decent sized surf but good, warm, cruisy fun all the same. Only took a 12m and was well powered most days, and overpowered for a few. Would've been well covered had I taken a 9m too.

Re: Virgin Atlantic

Just flew back from Antigua with them. Each passenger gets one piece of free sporting equipment up to 23kg. So I had a surfboard, kite, harness etc in a boardbag, plus my usual luggage. They didn't even weigh the boardbag. Best experience in 20 years traveling with surfboards!

Re: Antigua

Thanks for the info folks. I'm guessing it'll be hit or miss, much like the rest of the Carib. I reckon I'll take the chance and pack a regular surfboard and a 9 and/or 12m. I'll be gutted if I get there with no gear and there is wind and waves! Kinda like the time I went to St Kitts, didn't take a ...

Re: front entry wetsuits

If you intend kiting over the winter then it is not worth skimping on a wetsuit. I've been surfing over 20 years and the best bit of advice I ever got was to buy a shi**y board and a good wetsuit. Get a well fitting wetsuit from a reputable manufacturer and you won't go wrong. The suits I've seen fr...

Yes, I have a Kilt. Yes, I like the sound of the pipes. And as to showing my ass to the south - well I'm sure if the SNP wins the independence vote we'll get a public holiday to do that
