Re: Weather stations??

Never found that site to be much use to be honest!
The wind is so local you need to use a live station.
For forecast I find "windfinder" is better and try to average out the pro and standard forecasts it gives.

Re: The right kit for a beginner

Give it ago mate, when I learnt, 13 years ago, we all self taught with kit a million times worse than you have. All the guys I know from then coped fine and learnt good edging skill just to survive!

Use your common sense and team up with others at your local beach.

Re: Weather stations??

Hi mate, Ru local?, Burnham has a few safety issues so if new to kiting weston might be better. For wind check the flags on the pier from the Web cam, check flatholm weather station, and the most up to date is this one about 2 miles inland. http://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashbo...

Re: Any one had good things to say about the cheap windmeter

I've used an old version of one of these with temp sensor. Had for the last 10 years+. I use it every session and find it helps when it's blowing between kite sizes and you don't have time to blow two kites.. Or kite will get damaged if left on beach! These are very accurate and simple to use. Si. ...

Re: What would you do?

Glad you got your board back mate. Basically this knob, a fellow kitesurfer, picked up your board and legged it while your back was turned. As you sail from the kite area it would have been obvious to any kitesurfer that the board belonged to one of the kiter's on the water. As the police have asked...

Re: Help needed with new board!

So what is it that makes these Shinn boards so good then? Never tried one but they seem to be really popular. The monk is lighter at 3.560kg What size? That's pretty heavy. 132x41 A quick update... Went to Brean Sunday, choppy water, started on a nine. Wind increased then changed down to a 7 just a...

Re: Help needed with new board!

I was chatting to a guy at Exmouth parked next to us, he had the 134 forever and absolutely loved it, said he had had a few boards and this was the best by miles. He was lighter than me as well and out on a 9m...we had similar speed in the conditions... I always find it strange when you sail out the...

Re: Help needed with new board!

Was only doing shortish runs across the estuary, but no back leg burn at all, even when holding speed across mid channel chop. The ballistic also eats chop at speed but you have to be aggressive as its a stiffer carbon board, and that burns the back leg on longer runs! The monk does feel good with e...

Re: Help needed with new board!

Hi Mike, tried board today at Exmouth, bit tricky to get a real feel for the board as it was flat/chop with a 12m in light winds with the power coming from the strong tide. The board felt comfortable and smooth, but took a bit of getting used to pads/ straps and stance was set wider than I'm used to...
