Re: The twitchers are at it again!

I started to have a look at this, but it's a right can of worms.. Just from a quick bit of digging online: In 2009, Teesmouth and Cleveland Coast EMS spring management scheme document includes assessing impact on birds from recreational activites. Concludes that it may cause disturbance to birds, bu...

The last pic on the monk forever is the foamy one, like on the older monk boards..

Re: The 2015 SHINN Thread, the new year starts!

@ Irie If you're talking about the new clear plastic handle on the Bronq, then yes it's not the comfiest when holding it sideways on as it's thin hard plastic. Think Shinn have opted for aesthetics over function there ;) Not really a problem for me as I don't (can't) do board-offs, so will probably ...

Re: The 2015 SHINN Thread, the new year starts!

Yeah that was my impression too, felt like a lot more difference than just 1cm extra. Feels like it planes a lot quicker so for my weight it was much better to ride (I love being well powered too, but even with strong winds here in UK you get plenty of lulls and I want to be able to keep riding when...

Re: The 2015 SHINN Thread, the new year starts!

Yeah that could be the case. It makes a world of difference if you're on the wrong side of 90kg.

Re: The 2015 SHINN Thread, the new year starts!

Fins are the same size, so there's definitely a difference in rocker. Maybe the slightly longer board shallows the rocker a bit? Not as much difference as I first thought, prob just less than a cm but it's noticeable. Both have more rocker than the monk, so my advice would be to size up one vs the m...

Good point, I still have both boards so will check (but I think they are both 53mm).

Re: Can anyone make a kite wind break?

I used an old 15m north toro as a windbreak in france a couple years back.

Just pumped it up and secured it via the pump attachment with a ground stake. Worked a treat

Re: The 2015 SHINN Thread, the new year starts!

Well done. It's an awesome, awesome board. 135? Mine is on a pedestal in the garage ;-) so light, so soft, but so much power and grip, it's unlike anything else I've ridden. Turns out I opted for the wrong size bronq. If you are close to 90kgs, definitely go for the 42 wide board as it makes a worl...

Yeah 135. Looks to have a quite a bit more rocker than the monk!

Re: The 2015 SHINN Thread, the new year starts!

I hear you, and if you love your 41 monk the 41 bronq will blow your socks off. It's a phenomenal board for hacking, carving and boosting. There is a demo one down south at the moment - prob be back late next week if they get some wind this weekend. Just bought the 41 bronq. Looking forward to gett...

Re: The 2015 SHINN Thread, the new year starts!

Thanks Mike, that's pretty much what I thought. So from a logical perspective the 42 wide is the board, but I love the 41 monk and can ride with a 13m kite in 14 knots (anything below that I'm not really interested anyway). I'm happiest when it's at least 20 knots and love the wild 30+ days (plenty ...

Re: The 2015 SHINN Thread, the new year starts!

Full writeup as promised. The 136x42... Super light and extremely tactile it has a very good low end and compared to the monk of similar size has a lot more life underfoot, yet it feels softer than the Monk, going earlier yet feeling far more alive when pushed to the limit of traction. Though feeli...
