Re: foil board - what kite?

For sure it tests your flying skills - as mike says you can't do anything if you can't steer. I have found - comparing disciplines - that on a surf board or twin I dig in hard so I can chuck the kite into an aggressive turn. not so easy on a foil - so sometimes in a blow I have to head up to get the...

Re: Foil Boards

don't forget el stubbo mike http://www.shinnworld.com/#!el-stubbo/wsaak Shinn lent me one for a couple of days last week and I preferred it to the shinnster - its Sooooo much stiffer with just the right amount of flex for me - hacking up wind in it is plenty of fun and it planes really early hacking...

Wave riding etiquette

Just back from medano where I got 5 great days - mostly wave riding. Its amazing how many don't know how to behave at a point break - to me short tackers should be hung at dawn! However I was slightly unsure of the etiquette of stalling to wait for a wave I liked while the queue of people behind me ...

Re: Foil Boards

now thats just bragging mike ! - you were running a K on your first go? I was doing little more than leaking water from all orifices for the first 3 sessions. It still occasionally tries to kill me for no apparent reason. The whole thing managed to land on my head from a great hight on Sunday - stil...

Re: Foil Boards

Day 5 - Feet still too cut up for footstraps- riding strapless. All that seems to be happening is I am riding longer and faster. But the crashes are still inevitable - its just that they are now faster and harder! Getting down wind is also impossible - I eventually mastered it on a race board - but ...

Re: Foil Boards

Finally pulled the trigger on a sroka board - my convertible surf foil will have to wait until I have time. Very impressed - arrived Friday - cruising around strapless on Monday. Should have gone strapless from the start then my feet wouldn't be cut to ribbons from the first few crashes. Right now l...

Re: Foil Boards

The sroka looks like reasonable value - but its it a bit short? I read the mast should be 1M?

Re: hows the endless storm treating you all?

Been good, had 4 sessions in last 7 days, could have done the others but body needed a break. 3 at Camber and one at a dead flat Whitstable. Camber has been big, had my best ever session x shore down the line at Camber ever on Wednesday. 2 sessions powered 7m Wave and 2 on the 5m Wave. One very gus...

hows the endless storm treating you all?

Not been on here in a while - but came back to learn more about foiling and thought I would post a wee bit on the troon teams exploits lately. As luck would have it I plumped for a 5M AIrush wave back in August. Not that my 6M RPM was letting me down - just that it was OLD. Seems like a lot of the g...

Re: Foil Boards

The LF review describing it as like "endless powder" has me hook line and sinker. A mate has just received his - now its getting to the gotta have one stage. Interesting that LF will sell you bits of one - I am simplistically thinking the "mast" apart from being the hardest bit to make - has the lea...

Re: Power of Old vs New Kites

Not more lines nonsense! front line will stretch pretty evenly - so you have to add a knot to your steering lines every so often big deal - if you have a decent bar like the comp stick its a doodle.
