Re: S2AS Rip off boards

Secondhand boards, always a bad idea unless you know the seller.

Re: Breakdown of the Price of a Kite

What's strange is I think kites are poor value but am happy to spend £2k plus on a bike and then think about spend £1k on a set of wheels for it!

Re: Lightwind Kite Have you got one? Going to get one?

Back to my sailing days, why did I have two suits of sails for every dinghy I ever raced. It's because I liked to choose my sails for the conditions on the day. Why not kites. I'll tell you why, sailors have a little more intellect than do kitesurfers. If get caught flying a lower performance kite ...

Yeah too. I like the sweet spot to be in the same place on the chicken loop line. I've got long arms and the bar has a clam cleat so it's easy to do.

Re: Irresponsible Kitesurf Shops

One of the major muscle memory stepping stones for me is a student that consistently let's go of the bar when they have lost control, means I can encourage them to be more assertive with the kite safe(ish) in the knowledge that they will let to of the bar when required as opposed to a student who w...

Re: Irresponsible Kitesurf Shops

Give them a 3-4m blade! Will this be flown on the beach to get kiting band there or on a local field where it gets banned? By an inexperienced kiter? As an instructor, most students that have completed a 3 day course are much safer than somebody who's got a few months experience as the knowledge is...

Re: Irresponsible Kitesurf Shops

I wonder about the short courses that kite schools do. While they might be sufficient for the more able and talented, wouldn't it be wiser to make absolutely sure that a learner really knows what they are doing? OR, why not start a scheme where newbies can be taken under someones wing, say for a fe...

Re: Irresponsible Kitesurf Shops

If this woman smashes someone else and gets it banned its still her fault. The shop might have sold her an unsuitable kite but its her ultimate responsibility to be safe around others. Suitable kites still hurt as much as unsuitable ones when they hit you.

Re: kite falls through itself...

I'd be undo the leash and be grabbing armfuls of a sideline if it wasn't too windy and do a packdown. In the future you could rig up a big ring/little ring up to one of the front lines as a reride so you can fix your leash to it and flag the kite out.
