Re: Flexifoil force 11m

I had early ions from flexi, these all tended to backstall if you didn't sheet out on the upstroke, your kite may be similar. Because of this flexi then sold the kites with over-long back pigtails.......some people tied extra knots in these to give more power/steering at the bar. If you fly the kite...

Re: Flexifoil force 11m

Why don't you check them??

I don't understand how people can do this dangerous sport, yet not understand the very basics about kite setup!

Just search checking line lengths, I'm sure your find the info you should know ;-)

Re: Launching alone

I nearly always self launch with the slide kite round method as on a sandy beach as my kites can really bounce when anchored! As to your shallow water launch , I have read in the past of a guy that used a small boat anchor/ heavy block which he dropped in the shallow water. Attached to this was a le...

How do I ride a sector?

Hi all, On impulse I picked up a sector 52 cheap and was after some tips on stance etc. I have not been on a directional since learning on a sky pirate in 2001!! I'm 90kg and not very light on my feet I have been out 3 times now in light-ish winds on a 12m c4 in small chop and so far find the board ...

Re: Spool of Dyneema kiteline

The core is straight fibers so no stretch!....and you can knot the ends instead of sewing. I wouldn't say its any thinner than normal line.

Re: Spool of Dyneema kiteline

I bought some power line pro, years ago, its different from most lines and very hard wearing....still good today!

Its not platted like most lines, but is made up of straight fibers in a woven outer case.

Hope that helps

Re: I adopted an old kite and here I am...

Thanks both for your comments, very helpful. I went to a shop in Shoreham to get some advice (very nice guys by the beach, told me lots of stuff about the kite despite I went in seeking only advice and had little intention to spend money, just yet). He said the grey safety loop to release the kite ...

Re: I adopted an old kite and here I am...

Hi, best get it looked over! If you do keep it you can replace the chicken loop / depower line, fairly cheaply from a number of brands. If its an old kite the quoted size may be projected, so by today's sizing it could be 10-11 m!! A reason for all that power. I self taught on an old C kite, like we...

Re: Micro Loop or Stopper ball for Flexifoil Atom?

Does the atom have a choice of bridle attachments like the ion?...a "hi" and "lo" setting, if so connect to the one nearest the wing tip for lighter bar pressure (lo) this puts more of the kites pull on the front lines and the harness rather than your arms. Put the back lines on ...

Re: bigger kite than recomended?

Oh if you do add pigtails, put a knot every 2" and gradually move the lines down the knots to find what's best. Then cut off the excess pigtail.

Re: bigger kite than recomended?

If you like the kite sheeted out then add some pigtails 8-) Are you using the old best bar still?.....check with the bar fully powered up all line lengths are equal!.......back lines shrink over time and need re-stretching as most of your body weight goes through the front lines. An over depowered k...

Re: Good Inexpensive Winter Wetsuit

m I just bought one of these, think it was the 2010 though, mate got one too, full smooth skin and proper brass dryzip. These are very warm! As you get zero water in. This is way warmer than a mystic 5-3mm winter suit I bought last year discounted for same money! Si. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapat...

Re: Jumps

Hi, I'm just average at this game:grin: but do like to jump. I'm not that good at popping so to go high I like lots of power in the kite and waves to launch off. Basically I spot a nice ramp ahead then bear downwind a bit and dive the kite for max power and speed, slowly bringing it back to 10. Just...
