Re: Anyone kiting the Devon / Cornwall swell on Saturday?

I've just been out. Lovely session. Hitting 40kmots. Then it really picked up. Gusted 56knots as we were coming in. Everything was ok. Packed lines away, wind got under the kite. Chucked board in the air, off went the kite. Found it in a tree with a branch through it. Well pissed of to say the leas...

Re: Anyone kiting the Devon / Cornwall swell on Saturday?

really ? are you seriously thinking of heading out ? (this isnt a pi** take) are you good enough ? can you handle 50-65 knots of wind and 13.8m swells ? because thats what we have forecast here in Scilly. if you really are that good then the redbull storm chasers are at Gwithian ...go play with the...

Re: Tom Heberts crash

it makes me wince every time I look at it  replaying it, it looks as if he crashes in the white water just behind a broken wave & I wonder if that played a part in keeping him in one piece? When the water is aerated like that, it's way softer to land in. They use air bubble systems in diving ...

Anyone kiting the Devon / Cornwall swell on Saturday?

Looks like a huge swell is going to hit on Saturday along with some pretty mental winds - is anyone planning on going out? if so where? :-)

Re: Hadlow Pro 2011 - difficult kite?

Thanks Anthony, I remember the Rebel well. I'm basically wondering whether it's worth persevering with that kite or if I should shove it on ebay and buy a bigger evo! What do you think? Re relaunching - I was doing a mixture but nothing seemed to work very well. I wonder if it was sufficiently infl...

Re: repair thread

Force 4 chandlery sells sail repair thread on a bobbin for a tenner.... That should do the trick perfectly. They've got a website too so you can prbably look at it online first or give a store a ring if you've still got questions....

Re: Best vehicle for a kitesurfer

As was mentioned earlier kite gear is not conducive to keeping the interior of your car clean. I also have dogs and kids so my beater 2001 Seat Leon Hatchback (150k miles on the clock and going strong) means I just don't care about the dog hair, salt, sand, mud, crayon and biscuits.... It's economic...

Re: North Quad Bar Safety

the north quad bar safety is a bit of a joke to be honest. as is any "mini 5th" style safety system. it only does the same as pushing the bar out. in any real dangerous situation, this isnt going to provide any extra safety or depower. That's a pretty misleading statement. It's true the principle i...

Re: North Quad Bar Safety

Hi Chris, the North Quad bar system works pretty much the same as all other 4 line bars in that it releases to the front two lines (not the back) when you activate the QR, the bar slides up the depower line to a stopper which will allow the kite to flag on its front lines with no tension in the rear...

Re: Big winds and small kites?

I'm with. Dan and Paul on this one. Seems like when we get big winds (45+ knots) they're bloody gusty so something that can deal with gusts well like the Neo and Rally are good options for storm kites, and a 5m Neo is a fantastic 25+ knot surf kite too so you could probably make more use of it than ...

Re: Comparing a 9m with another 9m

If this is the case then you could make the mistake of buying a kite different make than your own and say you don't have a 12m and you have a 9m they could end up the same power characteristics I had this a several years back. My quiver back then was a Flexi Atom 12m and an North Evo 9m. Both had a...

Re: Gloves

I've got a damaged index finger on one hand which is ridiculously sensitive to the cold, and as a result, me and wetsuit gloves are like my wife with handbags..... I seem to buy a couple of different pairs every year to try and find that holy grail of warm fingers whilst keeping a bit of dexterity.....
