Looking at taking a contract position in Dublin but need to know if there's any good kite spots nearby and if so, how close and what are they like? Also does the weather have any pattern, so any best times for wind etc.?

Any info would be very much appreciated.

mr.w,

theres plenty of kiting around Dublin.

main beaches are Dollymount and Sutton. the're about 2 miles from the city centre. if even
a bit further out you have portmarnock, rush, skerries. on the southside you have sandycove, however this is quiet tidal so only works a few hours each day if the tide and winds right.

strong gusty winds in the winter.

sea breeeze usually arrives about 1 o clock in the summer. the three main kite sizes are 9m ,12m and 16m. 9 and 12 in sinter 12 and 16 in summer.

theres a good kiting cumminity here, and during the summer theres often a crowd dissapearing in there vans, cars for a weekend on the west coast. usualy accomodation is tents in the dunes.

best bet is ot visit http://www.kitesurfing.ie or http://www.kiteireland.com
