Hi, I recently bought a F-one Bandit 7 kite but need a bar to go with it. I thought that any 4 line bar would do but I noticed that the attachment points to the kite all end in a knot/bobble. I thought therefore that I would buy the F-one bar to go with the kite but have been advised that when the QR is released they don’t flag out to the smiley position (like say a 5-line North kite does) but stay at 3 or 9-o-clock. In which case I could imagine that self rescue might prove difficult and there would be quite a bit of power left.

Can anybody who flies Bandits give me any advice on which bar they use, the attachment points and how the kite behaves once the QR is released?

Thanks

Hi personaly like the f one bar in 90 % of realeases would probably be fine and kill pretty much all pull however there is always the possibility in extreme wind conditions it might not flag out properly , as generally single line flag out would be safer , I have used both the North quad bar 2016 bar and this years f one 45 cm bandit bar , personaly love the clean simple feel of the f one bar and its also a lot cheaper. your choice :!:

Thanks for taking the time to reply and clarifying how the F-one bar releases. From experience it's those moments where it can all go wrong that I worry about. I have added pigtails to the kite so that I will try a few different bars from friends. I take your point on the price difference between North and F-one!

The best bar with the bandits in my opinion is the ozone bar. It is simple and good and flags on one line. Very safe. Been using ozone bars on my kites for many years now. Love fone kites they are awesome but the bars still aren't safe after all these years. Plus the fone spinner is very poor and centre line can get tangled and stop the safety activating. You will also find the fone bar will allow the kite to invert and roll much easier than what the ozone one will which is a major pain in the arse to be fair if it goes wrong.

The Bandit 7 is designed for dual front line release. You can get around different Y-split heights with trim and pigtails, but not double to single line flagging. Dual line flagging was often done because the kite couldn't be tuned such that it didn't carry on looping when released onto a single line (yay! loop of death  )

It'll 'probably' be ok. The later dual front line release kites that North made (2012 on) were tested with the single release and worked fine but - its best that you understand what you are getting into rather than buying on the advice of strangers on the internet 8)

That said I think the bandit bar is the worst and you'd do well to find something else but I don't actually have any evidence to back up this prejudice.
