best place to stay in or near Costa Calma

Shoot the breeze and stay in the loop with the unhinged and unhooked word on the street.

Hi,
Me and a mate (both in our 40's) are looking for a place to stay in or near Costa Calma on Fuerteventura for a week (29th April to 5th May). Going for a full on Kiting week so don't need much. A room or two (he snores!).
Any suggestions?
Cheers

hi,
cant help you with accommodation but just got back from fuerte and had a great week, wind everyday. We had a amazing day down at Matas Bay near Costa Calma, offshore wind but with a rescue jetski, like kitesurfing on a lake it was so flat. They seemed to run lesson packages as well so don't know if they had a tie in with accommodation somewhere. have a good one.

Thanks. Glad you had a good time. What was the wetsuit situation? I was thinking about only taking a shorty. Also, how much for the rescue service?
Did you kite anywhere else?
Cheers

I wore a 3m wetsuit which was fine, you'd be good still in a shorty or could even brave boardshorts and rash vest. Rescue should be €50 annually, due to some confusion on the day we agreed €20 as a one off. We kited flag beach, el cotillo, el cotillo lagoons (read a lot before i went that these were banned but they're not, just need some common sense where you go and time it right with rides etc). El cotillo has a fairly fierce wave to negotiate before you can get out, but once past was sweet, and flag beach is perfect when the directions right. I'd advise boots too for most of them, lots of rocks you need to be aware of, my boards come home with a few momentos! Enjoy!!
