I spoke to Richard this morning to get some clarification on some of the parking issues here, after reading back it isn't maybe as clear as it could be

There are going to be 150 free parking permits for the big car park next to the BLCC, this will be fine for campers etc as there is a large hard standing area that has been used as a storage site for some building work that happened recently. This is also close to the BLCC, where the evening entertainment will take place. I suspect "van parties" will happen here, but please be aware that there are residential areas very close to this car park

There is a tram stop next to this car park

There are also around 40 to 60 parking places at the next headland south of the event site (5 minutes walk) this is for competitors

There is also the BLCC south compound which will be able to accomodate several vehicles, but it would be cool to give competitors who are camping in tents, first refusal in this area!

There will be limited parking in the BLCC main compound, but tractor access is required for regular members.

If you are not competing and are having to pay for parking, I would recommend parking next to the BLCC on the big gravel car park as parking in the bays on the main road is expensive. This car park is around £2.50 for 12 hours and a tram or a brisk walk can be had to the event site.
There is also lots of room for free riding close to this area.

I'm not sure about camping for non competitors, some of the more local guys may be able to help, or do some googling!

Regardless of my involvment with the BKSA, this is my local event and I really want it to be a success, I hope this post helps to dispell some of the negative feelings towards it
If this event is a success, there is a chance Blackpool will stump up some $$ for future events

Cheers

Although not official, there is free overnight parking on Anchorsholme promenade (Princess Way between the sea & the park). Good for kiting too, except at high tide.

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?ie=UTF8&l ... 5&t=h&z=16

There are motorhomes parked up there all the time and, AFAIK, never get moved on. There's about 600 meters of road but it does get busy in the day, especially if weather nice so could be pot luck if you get a place.

It is a few miles out of Blackpool (better if you ask me) but there's a tram stop nearby that'll take you right to the event.

Regarding camping in tents in the south compound, it would be good if anyone wishing to use this area could contact us before hand to reserve a place! There will be BLCC members in the area who will be able to give access to those wishing to use it

I know Ned taylor and Niki normally use a tent, as do the Whitley clan

The gates to this area can be locked overnight

we should be able to squeeze those in who have asked for tent space, any additional will maybe have to squeeze in between the vans on the hard standing, so bring an air bed
