I am looking forward to Brighton and overall have enjoyed the events this year and have met many new people and learned a lot BUT have to mention a couple of things that have annoyed me about Brighton that has been mentioned briefly and will probably be annoying a big majority of the riders and parents.
6 out of 7 events this year have considered everybody and held pro day on a friday and the ams over saturday and sunday as per usual, this has always made sense. As mentioned the juniors reached an average registration of 15 riders at the events, juniors that go to school mon-fri and parents that have to work mon-fri to support the kids that support the events and will do for many years as they are the ams and pros of tomorrow, without them there is no future for the sport.
I personally think that before hosting an event organisers should be aware of the normal parameters that the events work around and if they cannot work with them parameters don't host the event. I think it stinks that for some reason not explained to anyone parents have to take time off work and even worse kids take time off school to attend the last event of the year, some of them have to attend to get prizes and the others won't want to miss the last chance to compete for this year.
The Prize giving also needs looking at, an educated guess tells me dinner is fish and chips (may be wrong) and the time scale 7pm-10.30pm and entertainment will probably be some uni geek with a laptop plugged into a P.A system playing tunes from limewire all for £15.00    something tells me somebody is going to make enough money to see them over winter until the season starts again, "why didn't I think of that?" I'll tell you why, because I believe events should be run to accomodate the riders and families, providing ample parking and overnight pitches (not limited spaces) and be at a cost that covers overheads only and not used as a money making opportunity.
I feel better for that, I am sure more people feel the same and havn't said if I am on my own on this then I'll get my coat.

Not flown at Brighton before. Could anyone tell me if there will be room outside the comp area for freeriding?

I was thinking about coming along on Saturday and getting a feel for the event format as I'm thinking of coming last at some of the senior events next year.
It looks like good wind though, so it would be a shame to pass up the opportunity for a session.

there`s loads of room for freeriding,
upwind at Hove
further upwind Hotpipes
further further upwind Shareham
next county upwind Lancing
do a downwinder from anyone of these
and sail straight into the comp zone,

Yeah, good wind today!

Pro men and women finished

Results

Men

Lewis Crathern - Slingshot, Xcel, Relentless

Sam Light - Naish, Oneil, Monster Energy Drink

Martin Hogg - Flexifoil

I'm not sure of the overall finish for the year but I do know Lewis is first overall with Sam second

Women

Helen Thompson - North

Hannah Whiteley - JN, Crazy Fly

Niki Rudd - Edge

Which is also how the overall standings are (I think)

Plenty going on down here, wind forcast is good, some lean periods, but still good. Trade tent down on the beach with Naish, Waveriders, Cabrinha, BUK clothing and a guy who takes pretty hot photo's all in attendance

Gonna go check out some shots and will try get some online in the next hour
