Waverider you seem to be a local.

What wind directions work for Newgale?
What arrows do you use on XC ?
How accurate are the XC arrows, i.e. do you add or take a few mph off?

Kitesurfing custodian of Newgale beach, I live 30 minutes away. The only place you can kitesurf around here on an easterly is Amroth and Tenby south beach, Amroth will be the better of the two. There won't be enough wind here anyway unless the Lord himself steps-in though I wouldn't imagine kitesurfers are in favour.

Go to the east coast, looks like it's kicking, it would have been nice to meet you all though, next-time Eh?

im going to rant now....
you know what p****ses me off ?
Schedule a wave event for west wales in mid may, well well what a huge suprise no wind and no waves.
But schedule cornwall for october, most likely outcome good wind and waves.
Evryone thinks hmm waves in wales are pants and cornwall is great (again  )
Couldnt we have had this event either earlier in the year or later?
As waverider pointed out no one local at all knew about the event , I have publicised it as has marc and others
all be it very late but now looking pointless as it would be irrsponsible to drive hundreds of miles and burn gallons of diesel at 1.20/l for nothing. Personally i know how hard it is, went to mondial du vent last year 1500 mile round trip, not a breath !

rant off.

I hope anyone who goes has a great weekend. ENE F4-5 sat and E 5-6 Sunday

alunj....bit of a rant!

I've never kited in Wales but is May normally a no wind/wave month...historically? Next weekend is looking OK although not being local to the region you would know better!

Having been to many freestyle events poor conditions are just something you have to deal with at times. Booking accommodation, time off work, race crew and safety support, getting permission, tides, are amongst just a few of the things an organiser has to think about.

If, for instance, there are epic conditions next weekend, is that the organisers fault for getting the wrong weekend, or just the gods taking the P**s?

A friend of mine went to Dominica Republic during the windy season for 3 weeks...got 20 minutes on the water. Lucky they didn't have a comp at the same time eh!

Mind you, if everyone thinks waves in Wales are pants and Cornwall is great, should keep your beaches less crowded!

I would just like to appoligise for the lack of wind at the event.

At All BKSA Wave events to date we have had wind

June 05 Woolacombe - Wind and Waves
Sept 05 Watergate - Wind and Waves
Oct 05 Porthcawl - Wind and Waves

Oct 06 Isle of Wight - Wind and Waves

Oct 07 Porthcawl - Wind and Waves

April 08 Westward Ho - Wind and Waves

So not a bad record !

However I would like to thank everyone who made the effort to turn up and attended the event from Blackpool to Cornwall to Oxford!!

Oli from Big Blue for organising the Event on a local level - permissions , cafe , pub and some paddleboarding !

A riders meeting was had at the event about 09 so watch this space.

Thanks to sponsors Greenish Clothing and Oli from Big Blue

Re publicity - Sorry it wasn't enough - maybe we will take an advert out in the National Newspapers to publise these events!

1- BKSA website and calender
2- Kiteboarder Forum
3- BKSA Newsletters
4- Full Page advert in Kitesurf Magazine , IKitesurf
5- Editorial in Kitesurf , Kiteworld , I Kitesurf

Next event 17th-19th October 08 at Gwithian - definetly going to be wind and waves .

We will definetly be back - lovely sceneny and great potential

All the best

All the the Porthcawl events were october ish i think.

We dont get too much swell/wind in may june july aug , Equinoxes are the best time for wind

At least in the Autum the water is warm :)
