Spoke to Alex, was on the phone for ages so forgot most of it!
The council wanted to take forever to do this, up to October, looks like they wanted to get summer out of the way.
Alex presented them with a code of conduct and risk assesments as an interim measure to allow kiting to return sooner, these are being submitted to the independent risk assesor for their approval
Thats the way I understood it anyway, maybe Alex could elaborate
It's a damn sight more than what they said on Radio 2 five weeks ago, "days, no more than a couple of weeks"

yeah I also spoke to Alex today and it sounds like 2 months at the earliest, could of been October if we hadn't got the RA and COC done already.
Can I just say we owe Peter Barret and Alex BIG STYLE. Peter took time of work in London and at his expense travelled back up Monday night for theis meeting. I believe Mike Shaw came up from Flexi as well, so hats off to them and I think a few beers are in order when the ban is lifted.

sounds like we had the right people at the meeting
Peter blitzed them with regard to complaints from pilots and line length and Mike Shaw has offered to pay Paul McWilliams wages for 2 days while Alex gives him instruction on kiting...
I think a party at the BLCC is in order!!!!

yeah lets not start opening the beers just yet but a party would be in order. We should buy Peter a prezzie.
All
As you have probably heard there is talk of the ban being lifted imminently but talking to Phil and Tony we should not openly broadcast this to the South Shore Community. The council have asked us I believe not to do this until they do a formal press release.
Personally I feel quite strongly about this as the ban should not be lifted until all the appropriate measures that we have agreed have been put in place. I.e. Signage Code of conduct etc.
If the council goes to press before the above are done I think we are in danger of descending into carnage and the possibility of an accident is increased as everyone suddenly flocks to South Shore.
Also, without the necessary we still have no grounds to police the beach e.g. informing someone of the no fly zones without there being signage to back this up.
We should also be looking at holding an event ‘ South Shore –Open for Business’ which will take part on a Saturday day with the aim of getting people down to sign up to the code of conduct. Spread the word and lurve and then have a great big piss up at the BLCC on the Saturday night to celebrate our release from slavery (Fleetwood and Rossall) and in honour of the hard work that Peter and Alex have put in.
Diary dates please!!!!
