I've tried Oneill superfreak 5/4 and Psycho one 5/4. I currently surf on the east coast where the water is too cold for my 4/3. I need something much warmer.

Superfreak has the firewall inside which is super warm. It also has the thin layer of neoprene at the chest and back to prevent from wind chill.

Psycho one is made of technobutter 2. When I looked inside, it doesn't have the firewall insulation bit inside. Nor does it have the thin layer of neoprene to block the wind chill.

I dropped their customer service an email and they told me psycho one is much better warmer. However I'm skeptic since it is more expensive than the superfreak.

In terms of quality, I can see that the psycho one is much better. The stitches and seams are better quality than superfreak. However when I put the psycho one wetsuit on, it stretches so well. I feel like I've just put on a summer wetsuit.

Does anyone have experience with a 5/4 psycho one and know if it is warm enough?

I have a couple of the 5mm Physco 3's, they've changed name for 2016 or '15, sorry can't remember.

Really warm wet suit. Was my go to suit in wimter. I have a 6mm with fitted hood for super cold winters. Not had of those the past couple of winters.

If the brand fits your body, then go with what O'Neil say. they make the suit, so they would know which is the better. It's more expensive for a reason :)

The Technobutter is super stretchy, a good thing, but also a PITA getting at times, due to being so stretchy.

My GF bought me an Excel front suit in autumn 2014, to replace my old worn out 5m O'Neil. Fantastic suit, really warm. I bought another this past autumn, on sale.

I assume you have a thermal rashie or two? they will make a difference, as would a wind proof top. I have a Gill wind proof top, really good for keeping the chill off.

The technobutter one is £70 more than superfreak. I decide to go for the cheaper option. I felt like they both are a good fit. Although technobutter is definitely worth the money since the quality is much better. Since I'm buying a 6/5 and a 5/4, I decide to save some money this time. The technobutter version does have a more expensive model which does have the layer of neoprene for front and back. But it is a lot more expensive.

I also have a 3/2 excel for summer, good stuff but unfortunately my dog loves to chew on it when I'm putting it on.

Thank you for your help on this. I had a look and psycho 3 does have the firewall insulation. It is different than the psycho one version. I think yours is much warmer.
