WNW is okay at Tidemills, you just have to watch it doesnt go NW (which for some reason, it does quite often).

ENE is fine at Normans Bay and Greatstone. Greatstone will work on a NNE to.

North West through to North is not doable anywhere on the south east coast. Ive heard of people doing Bewl water reservoir, but otherwise, yes, Whitstable etc is the only Northerly.

Let us know if your looking to head out local and need people to go with. Im always happy to go out if i can, as are the other guys i know around this area

Thanks Paul for that, as I thought.

Wind isn't making it's mind yet for the weekend, but there seems to be a N'ly direction. Ground swell is coming in the West country so I might head down there for a solid surf (but again wind is unstable over there so it might mess the surf). Taking my kite too, hoping to get bashed by the waves.

If not I might head to north Kent / Greatstone for a N'ly session.

I'm still having to walk back upwind, but I'm competent enough to control what I'm doing so it'll be a great pleasure to meet when you're out there.

I might pop over to Pevensey this evening because the tide is right and there might be a 10knot wind...

Forecast to be okay at Pev today. Ive got a cheeky eye on bank holiday Monday afternoon. If it stays as forecast, Greatstone will be decent :)

Yup I think I'll head out to Rossetti after work. Though it's currently 10mph gust...

Hopefully I can get some surf and kite this weekend. Let's hope that the wind stays as it is for Monday!

A good thing about Eastbourne is that if its warm (around 20c) and high tide, there will be a sea breeze, so often, a 10mph forecast becomes 15-20mph!

Thanks Paul for that. I understand how sea breeze happens but I can't figure out / predict when it happens. Good to know when it's likely to happen though.

Managed to get out yesterday on a bare wind. It was so weak I could only go downwind swinging 13m up and down the zone like a rag doll. But I learned how to start from standing on the shallow water and slide turns. Tried gybing but wasn't strong enough to keep the kite up while carving...

Another thing I also learned: 13m is a B!7£H to carry back to the beach when wind dies completely...

Yeah kites are a lady dog to move in no wind!
Sea breezes are equally tough, but as a general rule, the greater the difference between the air temperature over land and that over the sea, the greater the chance of those winds 'exchanging' on the beach. Thus the sea breeze. At high tide, the air temp over the sea is slightly cooler than low tide.
Today at high, the forecast was 9mph, the recorded high gust was 20!
Im heading to Greatstone Mon, if your free the forecast looks nice

Hi peolple!!
I was here the wole summer in Eastbourne and I've seen 3 or 4 kites, I was worried thinking that nobody does kitesurf here! Then I found this foro and thougt that maybe I'm more luky now and I could meet somebody to go kitesurfing and share grate moments with people like me.
Last day I've been on seaford beach with my 7m yellow, but I've been kitesurfing here on eastbourne when the conditions were good, with my 10m green .
My house is on seafront and I sew some windsufers many times: when the wind was offshore aswell, but I dont ride if it's offshore. So two times I had to take the bus to go to seaford and do kitesurf there, alone and bored.
I know Its becoming a litlel bit cold, but if somebody wants to meet to ride hard even with a litle cold, I would like to do it. If I dont find any , I'm not sure that I'll do It more, and I get angryyyy when I dont fly my kite!!!.
If it snow, I would like to meet to do snowkite aswell.

Well, you tell me wathever you think, Will I meet with somebody to kitesurfing here in UK?
Thanks guys

Hello! Don't get so angry!

There are quite a lot of people who kite (surf and land) around Eastbourne. They like to hide when it's not windy... and when it's windy they come out of nowhere!!

People don’t tend to kitesurf on Eastbourne seafront, there are other beaches nearby (like Seaford) that are more appropriate for kitesurfing.

Some of us are thinking of going to Greatstone over the weekend; come along if you are free, or otherwise I’m sure we’ll meet up very soon!

I know there might be a lot a good spots all arround uk, but unfurtunaly I have no vehicle and I have to go by bus or train.
I'd like to go to Greatstone but maybe it takes too long to go by public transport.

If somebody could pick me up to go in his car I offer to share the cost of the gas. And ofcourse laughts and help if it's necesary.
I promise a good omelette for lunch.I'm spanish chef... :o
