Anybody using a hydrofoil out here?
More and more people are using them in france, but ever since Carafino did a big flop in the UK I have not heard of anybody using a foil.

Currently on a building project so it would be nice to exchange experiences with someone else.

Thanks.
I use http://kitefoil.forumactif.org/ it is both in french and in english and it has got loads of information and is basically an a to z of building. I spent hours reading that site since May. I would really recommend it. It was created by one of the french kitesurfing pionner (Laurent Ness)

I have got my front wing, t bar and fuselage done.
I just need to do my back wing and then put them all together.

Hopefully I can have it done before the winter. :-D

What profiles did you went for Tone?
What materials are you using for the core?
Have you ever used one before?

I am pretty impressed with the result so far. Hopefully it will not need too much tunning.

I'm using corcell foam for the core and will be carbon fiber which I will vac bag.

I'm just finishing a 1/2 scale proto at the moment. Will put up some pics tomorrow.

Looking good Btw.

So, how are you getting on with your half scale proto Tone?
I have finally finished my stabilizing wing (Back wing).

I must have 20 hours worth of work left before it is finished and ready to hit the water. I can not wait.

I had a quick look on kiteforum.
Half of the post there are utter crap.
I am not an expert but with all the research I have done since May, I would not waste my time there again.

I considered this option for a while and quickly gave it up due to the size and thickness.
Windsurfer fins would almost be more efficient.

I have talked to a guy who does his own in France and sales his prototype. The most important thing in your hydrofoil is the t bar.
Any wing will work with the right speed. I.e. Look at what happen when you put your hand outside your car window.

Use google translate and go around the French section of the French kitefoil forum in the "fabriquer" section.

I would love to but I do not have one and would not have the time to edit videos if I had one...
Feel free to send me yours and I will send it back to you with the video.

Might try to borrow one for the posterity.
I will post a few pictures if I manage to get someone with a camera.

I can not wait to try it out.
NE wind this week end and of course I do not know any deep water spot fior that wind.
