I was wondering if anyone could advise me on the best grease for a metal hydrofoil mast to stop the bolts welding to the mast. I have purchased some silicon grease which I have read can be used to stop corrosion. Does anyone know if the Universal PTFE grease is more suitable?

Tef gel is best (opinion), Silcon grease is fine. Ptfe based should be fine too. My assumption is you're using stainless in aluminium or alloy of?

Thanks for the advice. I am using the liquid force hydrofoil which is aluminium, think the bolts might be steel.

Pretty sure the bolts will be Stainless Steel probably A4 (on many cases this is inscribed on the head of the bolt) important as its going into or through aluminum the worries are two fold galvanic isolation and to prevent galling (welding). Stainless into Al galls very easily as does (though technically not as obviously) stainless into stainless in high load applications. Why chromed bronze rigging screws are better and a lot more expensive than stainless ones.

Moses provide some kind Lithium grease with their foils to prevent the galling. This grease works fine too, best off just don't mix greases disassemble and wash a lot and try not to over tighten.

If its A2 A4 or otherwise by way of the stainless doesn't really matter other than the corrosion resistance A4 (aka AIS 316) is good for salt water A2 tends to pit and corrode more easily.

all above is simplified so I don't bore the crap out of anyone I do note there is a lot more to some the above statements.
