kitesurfing around sete france

Shoot the breeze and stay in the loop with the unhinged and unhooked word on the street.

Spent some time in the area windsurfing some 20 years ago. The top spot in the area was at Cap d'agde. :-D After a quick google, found that kitesurfing is available there these days too:- http://www.topkite.fr/

I spent a few weeks windsurfing and mountain biking in south of france and the bay of roses.

For a start I've never been to sete so sorry about that. The wind can be uber strong. If the tramontana kicks in you could be talking 45+ knots of wind spaced out over a week then 2 weeks of nothing.

This was at leaucate which is near port la nouvelle.

This is gruissan where they hold the defi windsurfing race.

If youre going in the summer go to the bay of roses. I was very close to taking kite lessons as they were getting on the water so much more than me. There is pretty much a guaranteed breeze in the afternoon and the beach is huge. i walked from one end to the other and regretted it. well my feet did lol. Its cheaper around there as well. south of france is v expensive but there is a lot of free camping. which is harder in spain so its swings and roundabouts.

One thing that is nice is the amount of huge salt water lakes around there (south of france) a lot of them are too shallow for windsurfing but would be perfect for kiting. if its windy you will have a lot of fun for sure. The mountain biking is superb as well. actually it needs more emphasis it's fecking superb. you can ride for 10 miles without seeing a soul. the feeder roads to the windmills make great riding.

the tramontana wind will be blowing offshore on the beaches so the big lake at sete will be great for kiting i guess.

bottom line is its a gamble on the wind in south of france. bay of roses is a better bet.

i created a blog while i was there. http://speed-sailing.blogspot.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

the speed sailing is superb down there and some excellent speeds have been done.

have fun you jammy git :)

Was down that way in October. 5 days of nuking tramontana winds. Gets sea breezes in the summer so also the option of waves, but really the lakes are where it's at. I have never sailed on such flat water before, let alone On a 7m.

Check out my flickr

Pm me if you want to know anything specific.
