Hi to all - kite-surfing has been at the top of my 'bucket list' for a while now, and it's about time I achieved it.

I was flying stacked Flexifoils (6 x 10 ft) on land 20 years ago, and have a reasonable feel for the 'window', but have never surfed or taken a kite on water. I had a lesson in Tarifa in July, but the wind was so strong I only got as far as body-dragging and swallowing half the Med.

Chatting to an experienced kite tutor in August, I was told that I would need a 12 metre+ kite for my weight ( 16 1/2 stone and falling). So I've got myself a used 14 metre North Vegas, Trust 5 line bar set and a huge 165 cm board - hopefully to make getting started a little easier.

I must have studied every 'how to' video on You Tube , so what I need now is to be in the company of fellow newbies and experts somewhere where the water is mirror flat and the wind a steady 17 knots . . .

At my highly advanced age, I'm not interested in all the trickery, basically just cruising, so is there anybody out there? I live in East Yorkshire and Bridlington was my home-town, but winds there are usually dangerously off-shore.
