Re: Windy Areas (reports by Dan Howitt and Trista)

Leucate in south france for me.. Smallest kite was a 7 so could only squeeze in a fully depowered session in the evening as the wind "eased off". One day was too much for people even on 5m kites.. Only one guy risked it. Im guessing it was well over 40 but no idea how strong. Sent from my iPad using...

Re: Kenya, kit transport?

Seem to remember looking at turkish air too and as long as you say your boards are wakeboards not surfboards you are ok!

Re: Kenya, kit transport?

Used Qatar airways recently... Free 30kg allowance and can be split amongst multiple bags. No issue taking twintips in their own bag plus big holdall with the rest of the gear. Dont know about surf boards though...

Re: North Control Bars

Yeah i am seriously unimpressed by the new north stuff too.. I think the older bar is actually higher build quality and they have cut costs on the new stuff. Within a week of buying a new bar, one of the elastics fell off plus the plastic housing from the leash fell out and disappeared. The rubber o...

Re: Replacement depower lines hideously expensive?

You don't need the official North parts! I bought the line to do this off the reel in a kite shop but probably a sailing shop or ebay would do it too. Sorry i cant remember the official lengths but you can measure up, install the lines a bit long then adjust once it is all together. To do the depowe...

Re: Ditching the jobs to do want we really want to do. A little advise please

Heh.. Yes we got stuck in Manchester airport for an extra half hour as the bike boxes and bags would not fit through the tiny glass customs doors! We flew air transat to Vancouver.. Bike boxes are 20quid and up to 35kg so we crammed them full.. Then 23kg each hold luggage. Took the piss with the han...

Another thing... Never been to Oz but check out the new and 2nd hand market for gear prices. USA was v. cheap so got a bargain on a new kite. Conversely, if it is expensive then consider selling up when you leave.

Re: Ditching the jobs to do want we really want to do. A little advise please

We are just Near the end of an amazing year away with the kites.. 9 months in Canada, USA and Mexico in a camper then 3 in east Africa using public transport. We actually only had 2 kites for the first section and got them shipped to USA. 2 kites, board, 2 bars and harnesses for 100quid. I would thi...

Re: Advice needed on new board(s).. Shinn or others

Thanks for the info John! Great that the Monk should pop better than my old board - I am suprised as my old one had squarer tips and not much rocker. The Ultrasonic looks nice but I can't find one as cheap as the Monk or NHP. However there are one or two older Supershinns and Players about which are...

Advice needed on new board(s).. Shinn or others

Hi all, having just snapped my old 2009 Shinn Twin I am in the market for a new board (or two). I ride mainly hooked, boosts and kiteloop based tricks. More recently unhooking a bit doing rolls and working on S-Bends but probably never going to be a serious unhooker. I ride the complete range of con...

I just use some longer 3/4 shorts in the tropics - not normal surf shorts but thin synthetic ones (mine are biking shorts)

Re: Help! Emergency! Crossed line drama!

The North bar also has a swivel but it does not tend to work on its own. If I have done too many rolls in one direction and lines are twisted then I manually untwist the swivel a bit now and then. I guess with a 5 line system it could be dangerous to have the center lines very twisted as it could pr...
