90Kg Rider - What conditions will need smaller than 8m kite?

The smallest kite I have a 8m Hadlow ID, and I am wondering what conditions would require something smaller like a 6m ID. I'm thinking 35kts + But then with the 8m running depowered... would that cover it? I have two trips booked (El Médano and Sri Lanka) and I want to make sure I can ride at these ...

Flexifoil Sky Bar - flag out system test ?

My 4 line Flexi bar drops onto both power lines and leaves the kite powered up - making packdown hard in high winds - esp if overpowered / offshore winds. I'm trying to weigh up buying another bar - such as the Flexifoil Sky Bar with a single line flag out or running a 5th line on the existing bar. ...

Re: 5th Line Flexifoil Setup + 4 Line Safety System Question

RE: 3rd safety - Yes I meant releasing the kite.

Looking at sky bar now, as it has a single line flag out (appears to use a single power line).

5th Line Flexifoil Setup + 4 Line Safety System Question

Hi Guys, Today, I put up a kite and the wind appear to change rapidly and get a lot more gusty (Flexifoil Force) running on a 4 line bar. I was instantly overpowered (lifted off my feet style - pretty high), tried to stablise the situation (pulling the depower line) / see if the gusting would stop i...

Flexifoil Force - 5 line? North 5th element bar and lines?

Hi,

Does anyone know if a FF Force 2014 can be used with 5 lines?

I have a North 5th element bar and lines and wondered if this would work and if it's advisable.

Cheers!

Re: New rider, does this kit sound about right?

I have the 12m kite already so I guess I'll grab a 9 or 10m rebel + possible a larger board for the 12m kite on days when it's not so windy.

What sort of sizes / models are regarded as lower wind boards?

Re: New rider, does this kit sound about right?

Thanks again for all the replies, I got on alright with the waist harness - it did pull up a few time but to be expected after a few superman's while learning to board start :) So now I'm hooked and need some more kites, several times we got to various locations to find totally different conditions ...

Wow. A shop actually recommending suitable gear! Will wonders never cease? You'll have a lot of fun on that gear. What shop was it? Thanks :) It was http://www.powerkiteshop.com I've had good advice from them with buggy / foil kites in the past. They did recommend sea harness that I swapped for a w...

Re: New rider, does this kit sound about right?

Here's a compromise buy a 13m If a 12 doesn't work out I'll buy another larger kite 14/15 i guess? Part of me doesn't want to go buy a larger kite and stick it up with my experience level - I don't mind spending more money once I get going... Also, 10 - 25 knots was kind of an estimate on my part, I'll aim for 15 knots+ :)

Re: New rider, does this kit sound about right?

Thanks for all the answers, in their defence - they did recommend a mystick aviator seat harness - i asked for waist.

Perhaps i'll change this before it ships if it will make my life easier + I can use it on my kite buggy.

N00b friendly Kitesurfing near Bath Bristol area?

Hi All, I'm looking for somewhere decent for me and a friend to go kite surfing near bristol / bath - both have done a 3 day course. Closest by far is WSM, but the mud / tide sounds like a nightmare? - is this the case? If so am I better off heading towards portland / bournemouth? Or south wales? Th...
