Re: What would happen if you didn't buy a new kite?

Totally agree, that would make complete sense for the consumer. Would also standardise the product and should eventually lead to a better quality product at a good price. But doubt that will ever happen.

Re: What would happen if you didn't buy a new kite?

Yep, how they can justify that price for a 2 foot piece of aluminium some padding and some lines, it's barkng mad, should be £150max.
I've never bought new, often a 6 month old kite can be bought half price compared to new.

Re: Foot Straps

Thanks for all the advice, its very much appreciated.
I will have a think about whether the go for a different set of pads or the cheaper option of the raptor straps.

Foot Straps

I ride a shinn monk II which has the standard shinn foot straps but I find it very difficult to get the straps comfortable as well as being tight enough so that my feet don't slide out. I generally wear o'Neil wetsuit shoes and have size 7 feet. I'm not sure if it's the straps or the pads or the boo...

Lost Shinn board at Daymer Bay

Had a really nightmare today and after a big wipe had to body drag in so I wasn't washed out of the estuary at Daymer Bay. So lost my nice shinny black Shinn Monk. I did a search of the coves towards Polzeath but unable to find it. If any kind soul happens to find it, i'd greatly appreciate it if yo...

Re: S/H kite market where are they?

I've also been on the lookout for a new 8m, would like to buy new but with prices between £1100 - £1300 it just seems barking mad. Especially when they are often charging £350 for a bar and lines. I bought a Cube Acid mountain bike last year for £700, this is serious bit of kit which includes some t...

Re: Landscape of spots in the UK - some research

What about heading further West into Cornwall, I know its a bit of a trek but depending on wind direction, there are plenty of options:
Praa, Daymer Bay, Hawkers Cove (very quiet), Watergate Bay (huge beach)

Looking for Family Watersports Holiday Destination

I'm looking for a foreign family holiday destination, ideally somewhere in Europe (Greece, Turkey, Portugal etc...), so not too expensive. So I have a wife and two boys (aged 6 and 8) who are all keen to do a bit of windsurfing, dingy sailing, kayaking, SUP etc.. But i'd also like somewhere that is ...

Re: Ocean Rodeo Rise

So where did you buy your OR Rise from.
If you google it there doesn't appear to be anyone who sells them in the UK?

I heard it on Wave 105 and i thought they said East Wittering.
They said the child got caught in the lines and was lofted 10 feet. Suffered cuts and brusies, fortunately no serious injury.

No mention of how it happend.

I'd be interested to know what Freshwater West is like. I'm off to Saundersfoot on 11th Aug for a week and trying to get an idea of different beaches for different wind directions. Freshwater looks like it would be good for SW through NW and is closer than heading to Newgale. Any info would be usefu...

Don't worry i've been on this forum long enough to know who the pimps are. As its not for me, i'm not too bothered about the make although I do want something fairly user friendly. I'll see whats cheap and available on ebay, all these newbies saying a 12m is too small in the lower wind range makes m...

I'm just a bit worried that a 14 bow might be too much. I think being able to rip up wind on a 14m Waroo or TD in 11 - 15 is fine for a experience kiter but as a beginner there might be too much power. Not flown any bows to know if this power is easily controllable. Think I may opt for the 12 or 11m...

What size bow for Newbie?

I am looking at purchasing a bow kite for a mate (I owe him for a building survey) who is due to have some lessons in a few weeks. He is 13.5 stone, he's already got him a 150cm board. He is a pole surfer so reckons he only wants to try kiting when the winds are F3 - 4 (but most ex windsurfers say t...
