Re: Mauritius in 18 days from now.

I went to Mauritius last July for my honeymoon. It wasn't a good time for wind, but that helped keep the bride happy. I think I was a bit unlucky tbh. It came through a couple of days and it was pumping 8m weather at Le Morne. Absolutely epic place to kite although a bit hairy on the outside. Amazin...

Re: Kitesurfing with Glasses & Goggles

I used to wear daily disposables without too much grief. The odd unexpected wave would take them out sometimes. I used them with sea specs for sunnier climes, Egypt and the like. This worked well. Still apian in the ass putting them in at the beach etc. as I normally wore glasses. Had the laser chop...

Try wetsuit outlet, last time I was in there you could get a shortie for 30 squabs!

Re: Front rolls

Well done Gav. I guess the fact that you were perhaps getting some bigger air gave you time to think about your rotation more? I found smaller kites a bit more twitchy for rotations myself with it being easier to pull the kite off course by accident. If I'm trying something I don't know too well I f...

Re: Best place to go in Egypt (probably)

Took my GF to the Movenpick at El Gouna a few years ago. She made me go back the year after, what a drag :-D The beach off the hotel isn't the best to kite from though in my opinion, get a took took to Mangroovey. If I was there on my own I may stay closer to that beach, but when I went, the Movenpi...

Re: Kitesurfing Derby

You're f*cked for kiting there my friend. I lived in Nottingham and Worcester I ended up with some long drives to the coast. You can kite East or West coast from there depending on the wind direction. Forget kiting on lakes, unless you live in Italy in your summer break. I ended up buying a camper v...

Re: Pro riders and kites

I'll use magazine reviews to narrow the choices down to perhaps a shortlist of three, then try and ride em. There's so many kites out there. Then not only which model but which year etc. etc. I think word of mouth and reviews are a good starting point. Alot of reviews posted on line are pretty avera...

Re: Bradwell Creek - can you kite there?

Ah ok, I'm with you. Yeah would be some nice flat water. Depends if its as muddy as buggery or not and if there's room to launch.

Let me know how you get on if you try it, I'd be interested to know.

May head to Minster myself Saturday morning.

Re: Bradwell Creek - can you kite there?

Tone, you taking about near the powerstation or elsewhere? I know some people have kited near the powerstation on NNE's & N's. I think there is a small beach to the East and a footpath. Not done it myself. You could get some interesting wind against tide conditions there. Bet the tide pulls through ...

Re: Any snowboarders here? How does kite-surfing compare?

For me kitesurfing is better than snow boarding. Both have there place and a great powder day is a very close call. Unfortunatley if you only holiday once a year the powder days are few and far between and those holidays are quite costly. Kiting can be every weekend it blows hard enough andthere is ...

Re: Gul fugitive dry suit

Surprised you didn't like the Ion Fuse, I love mine. Does take a while to dry I admit but don't find it heavy. Maybe I'm just tough :-D

Not tried a more traditional drysuit though.

Re: Kiting on the snow - tips please.

You need a lot of snow! It doesn't pack down as it does in a resort over time so it's very easy to take 3-4 inches of the top with a few choice turns, then the brown starts coming through (no one likes that :? ) then you're kiting on the grass and stones, not much fun. If you have a big area its bet...

Re: Another Kite Quiver Advice Thread!

I kinda like big kites myself. Theyre great for learning new stuff. You can go out in moderate winds, really hang off the bar with no fear of getting spanked. I have a 14m Switchblade from a few years back, it pulls like a train but is not great in the turn. It's real fun to try new stuff on as it h...
