Re: God I'm bored.............no wind!

Super windy today, hope you got out & filled your boots! Looking good for the next week as well.

Did you see the new weather station on the Calshot Light Buoy? http://www.rock7.com/wind

Re: Waterproof GPS tracking watch.

I use a Garmin Forerunner 10. You can link Garmin Connect to Strava. This is a nice simple to use watch and you can pick them up on Amazon quite reasonably. I think I paid about £50?

Re: The 2015 SHINN Thread, the new year starts!

Took a punt and ordered myself a new 137 Shinn Ultrasonic. First go yesterday at Bracklesham in cross on 13m wind. I've been on the Livewire for a couple of years, but my knees are not super keen on boots, so since I'm riding straps I thought I might try and find something a bit more efficient! I've...

Re: Question to fellow Southampton / Solent kiters

Weston shore, but don't leave anything like bags, pumps etc alone there. Tbh I would go to hill head over WS as the wind is cleaner. You can launch at meon shore, which is a bit up the coast from hill head and kite up to titchfield haven which is generally quieter than HH or meon. Drop into 24-7 at ...

Re: Arush 2016 bar and lithium

Yes it will work fine. The low Y on the new bar will actually improve your older kites handling a bit. The newer bars have single flag out safety. If you want kites and bars etc, just give me a shout at 24-7 Boardsports :)

Re: New Board Time!!!!

The bronq is a little beaut! But I'm going for that new Ultrasonic myself, just to be different The bronq is super popular with the Calshot massive, it eats the chop and the handling generally makes you feel like a hero on every session. Like a monk but betterer. It is also the best looking Shinn I ...

Re: Airush 2016 - the new thread and the new kite - UNION

After tonight's session I'm getting right into the Union. I really like the wave, but I think I would struggle to buy one over the union, which seems to have all the good bits of the wave with an added dose of upwind efficiency and hang time. I've only had wind to try the 12 so far, but it's soo lig...

I'll have them in the next couple of days.... Just depends how fast the couriers get them here! We ordered orange and blue 12 metre kites, so you can take your pick.

Re: Foil Boards

Hi Ben, there are no day passes at Calshot. The site is a residential outdoor education centre, so the council want to know who all the kiters are and that they have insurance and are safe and competent. This would be difficult to administer on a day ticket basis, so for now, it's members only. Memb...

Re: Lightwind Kite Have you got one? Going to get one?

Baxter, I'd be interested to see how you get on with the lithium zero. It would give you the clout to get going in 10 knots and it'll still stay in the sky fairly well even if it drops off a bit. Mind you, drop anything in less than 10 knots and it's going to be a mission to relaunch. SUP does have ...

Re: Line lengths - how much difference do they actually make?

Yeah, I think flying the 7 on the bar for the 10 will help to minimise the gap in the wind range. I flew a 12/8 rally quiver in 2011 and 2012 and I would quite often put the 8 on the longer lines that came with the 12 when it was at the bottom end of the 8 wind range. When it was proper windy it wou...

Re: Packdown issues

Ok, having been in the situation of having a kite down and a line around my feet, I would always suggest you wind the lines onto the bar with as much care as possible in the circumstances. I reckon it's fairly rare that most of us will need to do a full pack. Most of the time when the kite has gone ...

Re: Help, I'm in pain!

Pain is weakness leaving the body you'll get fitter and it won't happen. I would guess that if you don't jump for a session, you won't have any pain either. Between sessions do some core workouts, go paddle boarding and generally work on your condition and flexibility. Kiting puts all sorts of uniqu...
