Who exactly has right of way in this instance...? Kitesurfer on the water is harming no one surely?!

Re: boot suggestions

It's not only the cold I am fighting - it's having more grip and support when being dragged over rocks.

Do those Atans fill up with water? Do they end up twisting round you feet when you're standing bracing against the kite? They look warm as.

boot suggestions

I kite mostly at freezing cold rocky shores. I can no longer take the punishment of nearly breaking a toe on launch or coming out of the water, hobbling over rocks, with legs numb up to the knee. I need something like a neoprene hiking boot, warmth, protection, but light and flexible too... any sugg...

Re: Isle of Lewis

What a great place. Lovely island and people. Lots of other options other than kiting/surfing if the conditions aren't on or you have other folk to please. Got out a couple of times at Eoropie, next door to supposedly the windiest spot in the British Isles. I love this latitude in summer - five minu...

Isle of Lewis

Anyone got anything to say about kiting on this island? Any beach recommendations etc? Especially the north western end - I'm staying in Port of Ness next week.

...and yes I did try a forum search, but all that produced was 10+ pages about Lewis Crathern doing this and that...

Cambridge is around about an hour or so drive from Hunny - an excellent spot to learn.

Also - it's windy now, why wait until June?!

Re: Nobile Sustainable Wood Source? Anyone know

Rather than buying a Nobile board, make one out of plywood. Thats about as friendly and sustainable as you'll get. Or even better still: Don't buy a new kiteboard, keep using your old one. But where is the fun in that? ps. I burn coal in my fire. Probably go though about 50-100kg/week in winter.

Re: Nobile Sustainable Wood Source? Anyone know

Great! That just leaves the resin, glass fibre, foam, plastic, nylon, polyester, tank of gas to get to the beach, etc. How much of all that is sustainably sourced? :-D

Re: dry suit fleece liners

This is the absolute business for under a drysuit (although like vervet, I'm not the one paying for it):

along with the PS zip top.

Fleecy on the inside, silky on the outside, lightweight, flexible, keeps you warm even when totally wringing wet.

Whatever you decide - avoid anything cotton.

Re: Winter ... brrr .. drysuits???

After dabbling with drysuits for kitesurfing since getting the original OR suit around 8 years ago, for a while I was unconvinced. Recently been forced back into it due to a knackered wetsuit and lack of spare cash. It is brilliant! Never going back to a wetsuit, not even in summer. It's all about w...
