Re: Newgale Beach Pembrookshire.

From what you say it's already to late, my knee was pre-diagnosed last summer on the basis of probability by the orthopedic surgeon who fixed me up with my hip re-surfacings. They did an MRI scan and called me back but the time lag in-between seeing him, the scan, seeing him again and then getting a...

Re: Newgale Beach Pembrookshire.

Thank you, I ran out of enthusiasm after Tiree last year. Nothing seemed quite good enough after that ten days. Also, I'm having to be quite picky about the conditions that suit me so after Tiree I didn't get to having many sessions. Then the shit hit the fan with wind damage to the roof twice befor...

Re: Newgale Beach Pembrookshire.

What about the weaver fish dangers? :-D Oh-yes, and though its still a little early you should always know what you're going to do for hot water if you tread on a weaver. The trick to avoiding standing on weavers is to let them know you're there. As you enter the sea, shuffle your feet and don't ju...

Re: Newgale Beach Pembrookshire.

The main risk with stones on the beach other than damage to your kite is riding in an onshore wind and not having a clear fault-path if you get yanked ashore. A low tide will give you plenty of sand though you do need to be aware as the tide moves up. I'm still seeing riders playing dangle-monkey in...

Re: How do you eat a baguette ?

Bloody spam... :-D Thanks, and just at a time I needed help. Only last night I prepared a load of fried onion for one of my great culinary treats. Frankfurter with masses of onion and mustard inside a demi-bagguette. After eating two there was a meal left behind on my face. Oh-yes, and................

Re: Lightwind Kite Have you got one? Going to get one?

Oh-yes, I learnt on foils and though I never went back to them it was an ambition. At the end of the day it was the cost that got in the way together with the inexorable progress of inflatable kites during the last few years.

Re: Lightwind Kite Have you got one? Going to get one?

There are now a few, don't get me on the number, of single strut and ZERO strut kites. Regarding your experience, what mystifies me is that any kite manufacturer would release a kite that doesn't perform or one that performs with difficulty so maybe you needed a little more time. Maybe they needed m...

Re: Lightwind Kite Have you got one? Going to get one?

My 15 metre Takoon Chrono is still up for sale and in mint condition after very little use though all my previous large kites have been value for money. Having a session when the sea is calm is more important to me now than it was even two years ago but this 15 Chrono is such a powerhouse I don't ha...

I'm sure you don't have the time to waste on time-wasters, the message i'm sharing is that from my experience they never change and can't help themselves. Well done for sharing though.

I know what i'm about to say is obvious and that i'm 'Teach-granny-to-suck-eggs' though I would like to share thoughts. Whilst we have a term for those who steal out of habit rather than need I have never heard a clinical term for those who are obsessive about telling lies and making up stories when...

Re: Comparing a 9m with another 9m

I have never accepted that you can mix brands as a result of a few experiences. if you go back through the archives you'll find numerous examples of the difficulties of mixing-and-matching so presumably this is about picking up a kite at a price you like rather than the performance you want. In some...

Re: Pembrokeshire in northerly

if you get a session in on Saturday/Sunday you should get a force five both days but you need to plan for low tide launches here in Pembrokeshire so it'll be after 2-ish before you get enough beach. LT is 16.22 for Newgale and it's a big tide so there will be a lot of water moving around 13.00. Ther...

Re: Pembrokeshire in northerly

I don't know who you're using to forecast our weather, XCWeather, Windfinder along with BBC local are showing variables of SW for Sunday and Monday. It'll be Newgale though if your forecast is right then yes Tenby is good on a SE.

Re: Pembrokeshire in northerly

As Marc says and not even a hint of an easterly though the forecast is showing NW for Friday then WNW for early Saturday West later and slowly making it's way to a southerly by Sunday. NW is onshore at Broadhaven and very bumpy at Newgale. WNW through to southerly is good at Newgale though if the se...
