The events almost ready to go. Some Monkeys have been sent out to test the wind. Get down there if you can, check it out.

Sorry Garry ...... I told Tom there were some guinea pigs going out to test the wind .....hmmmmmm guinea pig ...monkey .....guinea pig .....monkey .... not much of a resemblence...

Anyway after a disappointing day of wind which almost (...but not quite) got there the forecast looked light for the rest of the weekend. Some one should have told the weather ...
this is what the event site looked like at 5 am this morning

Turbulence Angel Joharra Sykes-Davies bongo awning .... or what was left of it!!

but more importantly the burger van and its gazebo's

lets see if it keeps up for the comp .......forecast was 12 - 14 all day ...more like 20 - 25 at the moment. Will keep you updated as the day progresses .......

Hi again

well after an awesome start the wind gradually died and by mid afternoon had totally dropped.

With over 40 kites in the air at any one time this was a great turn ot for a bad forecast...well done for everyone who turned up!

Anyway the position so far

One semi in the mens completed and Denzil William is in the final beating Lewis Crathern into second and Sam Light in third.

The other semi with Ali Barrett, Tom Court, Chris Burke and Snuggles ....(oops sorry Rob forgot your a grown up now  ) was black flagged

The womens pro's had only three turn up and after two heats it was a tie with Joharra Sykes Davies and Helen Thompson both having a first and a third and Sjoukje Brendenkamp from South Africa two seconds... the third heat was black flagged again but the girls decided that with only one minute to run that they would accept the result as it was at that point. (result to be announced)
The juniors had 4 entrants and again they found it difficult with the light winds. Even so they manged to produce an excellent display of control and skill. a few to watch in this category.

And ..... thats it for now

pictures from today are already in the bksa gallery and there will be more later next week of the sumo suit competitions !!!!!!!!

Nice beach too - pity about the wind.

Cheers guys from gary and gill, it's great to get some feedback after the event. Glad you all felt welcome and that the organisation was good. We will be happy to host next year and the locals on the caravan park were asking if you were coming back next week??? so I reckon with all the positive feedback from yourselves and the main sponsor and council it will happen. Everyone who was involved at this end wants to be involved next year if it happens even the band and caterers. Wev'e just wrapped up a crew thank you BBQ and the guys are keen for another event and all have ideas to make next year even better. Thank you all for travelling here from so far away to our little not so undiscovered spot as it is now.
It was back to normal yesterday with a crowded beach of 3 kitesurfers.
I have a town hall meeting next week to discuss the demolition of the toilet block and re-build of a new one including showers for such future events so this is an indication of how welcome you guys are by the locals. Possibly see you again in Skeggy.
