Saunton sands

Shoot the breeze and stay in the loop with the unhinged and unhooked word on the street.

Saunton sands

Post by WTF »

Was thinking of heading to Saunton sands / westward Ho next week and then remembered something about bans in July and August.
Is this the case or will we be alright.
Any advice welcomed .
Cheers D

Yes, kiting is banned on saunton sands in july and august but not at westward ho! There's also a good shop there - Kitemare - and their website has a good local beach guide with more info - basically, no kiting within 100m of pebble ridge at westward ho!, keep clear/north of the life guarded area/wooden walkway over ridge and respect other beach users as anywhere!

The ban was lifted a few years ago and kitesurfing is okay all year round at Saunton. Ho! as ever is open for business :)

just make sure you walk as far down the beach as possible to give yourself room.

The signs are still up stating that there is the ban during July/August, and that you should walk down the beach 400yds to where the white rock is. The white rock that can't be seen from any distance. Not sure if it's even still there. :D
