Casual Sexism

Shoot the breeze and stay in the loop with the unhinged and unhooked word on the street.

Casual Sexism

Post by skymankite »

As a dad who is keen to encourage their young daughter into the delights of this great sport, and just as a human being, it pisses me off at the amount of casual sexism in so much of the branding/videos and similar around kitesurfing. You only have to move your eyes a few mm to the crappy kite covers add on this forum to see it... or the latest video posted called "Sexy Girls and Tough Guys" ... you would think that kitesurfing is for blokes only and/or we live somewhere back in life on mars... as a relatively young sport it should be doing everything in can to encourage everyone that this is an inclusive sport, not somewhere where a woman is just there to be looked at. :x

I have to agree. That ad is a bit too much if not tacky!

I have a massive issue with 'Kite Camp' April 2nd banner at the top of this page. Not all homosexual men are effeminate. I for one won't be attending!!!

Well said the OP.
I said in a previous thread I feel the same way.

And thanks Tony.

No problem

I watched the thread when this was last mentioned, and at the time, decided to take no action as the reaction was fairly mixed.
I'm good with where its at now!

"sexy girls and tough guys" is a bit cheesy though, but the title is outside of my sphere of influence.
It's presence on this forum can be influenced by me, but in order to continue to run kiteboarder in the "very unmoderated" way it has been run for many years, I will leave the link where it is!
There has been far worse and offensive materiel, comments etc, posted on here over the years
Just trying to be consistent here!
