Skywalker Kiteboards 2007

"Probably the finest boards on the planet"

With the global success of Skywalker boards in 2006 we were going to have to come up with something very special for the 2007 season and after extensive R&D, testing and a little help from North Carolina we think we have achieved this and blown the performance envelope wide open again. One of the worlds top International Riders Dimitri Maramenides has joined the Skywalker Company and his influence will be felt throughout the whole range. We have totally remodelled the Pro Range and developed some amazing shapes tried and tested this summer and autumn in Brazil, Greece, Spain and the USA. The new 2007 cosmic graphics designed by Tamara will certainly turn heads down the beach, you will probably want to hang your new board above your fireplace but believe us you’ll enjoy it much more on the water. The new 2007 range has been designed and developed by a World Class Team with Tomek Pedryc based in Tarifa and Dimitri based in Cape Hatteras developing the Skywalker range into two distinct performance categories:

The Dimitri PRO Models and The Rider Series.

The Dimitri Maramedides Pro Models ONLY £380 delivered.

The Skywalker Flagship Dimitri Pro Models will come in six sizes and two colour ways, with new 07 Contoured pads, “No More Twist” adjustable straps with “4 bolts Fixing”, rail grabs, rounded handle grab, New G10 black core fins, 3D shaped rails, “Flex Control” reinforced 3mm tips, all new “elliptical” central concave on the 127 & 130 and “Stainless Steel” inserts as standard. QUALITY THROUGH OUT :-D

We have engineered reinforced flex tip technology into all the PRO boards.
This basically means stiff mid section to aid pop and boosting but flex where you need it in the tips to aid control in chop and clean release during free style moves, clever stuff indeed, the ride is incredible.

We have increased the strength of the tips and moved well away from the spine type construction used by so many other brands which creates weak points just where you need strength within the board structure and has been a failing in board construction. That’s why Skywalker boards can be called kiteloop proof.

Dimitri Pro 127 x 37.5:

This board was designed with the FS technology and has an elliptical concave for better upwind performance and control for high powered landings. This board is more for riders that want to push the limits to the max. It is a board for Power Moves and Free Style, both styles in one. This board will have increased pop with a softer feeling under foot due to the Flex Control Tips and structurally reinforced with a composite F&S core which is kiteloop guaranteed.

Dimitri Pro 131 x 40:

Slightly larger scaled up version of the 127 and a great one board quiver but also ideally suited to larger and taller riders or for riders that want to make the most of light wind conditions. The 131 board is more for riders that want to push the limits. It is a board for Power Moves and Free Style, both worlds in one again and because of its length can be use in the waves to full effect. This board will have better pop then the 06 and softer feeling under foot like the 127.

Dimitri Pro 135 x 47.5:

A lightwind dream, designed to get you out when most can’t. The 135 is the 2007 10 knot wind machine with considerable pop and early planning and designed with a flat bottom. On the 135 you will be able to have fun in 8 to15 knots of wind and is probably the first board on the market designed to take advantage of the new medium to large SLE Kite increased performance envelope. This board has been three years in development by Dimitri in Cape Hatteras and has seen many name changes through out its developemnt now brought to you by Skywalker for 2007.

Dimitri Pro Tarifa-Wave 134 x 39:

Because of the amazing success of the 2006 T-Wave we decided to improve it and make it even better. So we came up with the 07 T-wave which is 4 cm longer but the 07 T-Wave is Asymmetrical the nose is 2cm wider and the tail is 2 cm narrower. You will be able to use this board for the waves by moving the stance back or in flat water by having the stance in the middle. The new G10 3 fins configuration on the tail of the board will have a slightly increased area compared to the 06 fins. This delivers increased grip during bottom turns and bite on the wave face during the cutback. Tried and tested in the Atlantic this autumn on the shores of North Carolina and Tarifa. The bottom shape remains flat to promote early plaining between wave sets after jumps. It tracks and turns like no other board in the market and can be tuned to your local wave conditions OR used as a standard traditional twin tip. Wave versatility is the key performance criteria here and a perfect board to travel with. Need a one board quiver for waves, port tack, starboard tack, flat water, look no further it’s all here wrapped up in the F&S Kite Loop proof technology.

Directional Wave Boards

D-Wave: With the phenomenal success of the amazing half surfboard half skimboard over the past summer Tomek and Dimitri put their heads together to enhance the experience and improve on the original concept and with Tomeks 3D rail design, Airex C71 Core The D-Wave will establish its self as a true classic kiteboard.

Surf/Skim 140 x 48

Has the same shape then the 06 but thicker pads and more options for the footstraps. The Surf/Skim was designed for light wind and small waves. This is the board that you want to have when it is blowing 8 to 17 knots and the waves are no bigger then 2 meters. Planes like a skim board but feels like a wave board. Also if you want use it as a skim board, all you have to do is remove the straps and fins. Best of both worlds.

Pure Wave 150 x 46 :

The D-Wave is the big brother of the S/S. We designed this board for bigger waves and for stronger winds and radical bottom turns. This board will feel more like a surf board and get you out in the glass sooner but remains loose underfoot but with plenty of bite in the turn, strapped you wont loose this baby in the waves.

The Rider Series ONLY £299 Delivered

The Rider Series boards are deigned around performance and cost effectiveness. The 2007 Rider Series will have amazing new graphics by Tamara, Ergonomic pads, and adjustable straps with 2 bolts fixing, G10 fins with thin profile, EVA aluminium handles. We designed these boards for everyday riders in mind that want to go out and have fun but have a budget in mind. The boards are aimed at the recreational kiter and all types of riding except extreme where riders want to push the limits doing moves that can break their body or their boards. Hard Kite loop whip landings are not recommended on these boards you’ll need Dimitri’s board for that! Having said that we are confident that the Riders Series will stand up proudly against the finest production boards on the market.

125 x 36: The Rider Series 125 will be the same shape then 06 but with different graphics Designed with a Flat bottom and well suited to smaller riders, females and juniors and also for riders that like to ride really powered in strong winds.

126 x 37.5: The Rider Series 126 will be the same shape then 06 but with different graphics (Bubbles). Designed with a flat bottom for excellent pop and fast planning. You will be able to express yourself the way you want.

130 x 39: The Rider Series 130 is the big brother of the 126 but for bigger riders or for riders that love the 126 but want a lighter board for light winds.

138 x 40: The Rider Series 138 will be a board that can do anything, plane in light wind, Free Style, and use it in the waves. You can have this board for light wind and the 126 for stronger winds. These two boards will be the ticket for a perfect combination.

144 x 41: The Rider Series 144 was designed for beginners and for heavier riders that need the extra area to promote early planing and control.

Technology and Construction

Our recent experience leads us to the conclusion that kiteboarders can be generally divided into two categories:

a) Radical high wind junkies and
b) Radical Recreational Junkies who will soon become Radical High wind junkies.

Both groups need solid, reliable equipment. In order not to have them pay for useless extras we created two separate technology and equipment lines.

Mission Statement

It’s our aim to deliver the finest boards at the best possible price to you the customer.”

Dimirti Pro Models in FACK'N STRONG Construction

We have developed an innovative technology which is proven, robust and we are very proud of. We have designed the boards consisting of a composite core, which creates a double T bonding with the laminates. Our main goal was to create a much stronger board without raising its weight. The board is perfect for those who spend a lot of time in the air and one the water. Our construction engineering specialists came up with the following solutions: The production of the combi e-glass fabric was ordered especially for Skywalker. This fabric provides almost ideal arrangement of the fibers in the laminate. The thickness of the decorative top sheet was diminished to 0.4 mm to reduce weight and the weight savings were redistributed in other areas of the board, fins, tips and the corner edges of the board, which are most sensitive points in terms of impact damage. In conclusion we have achieved a process which delivers exceptional weight to strength ratios with factory tuneable flex and its Fack'n Strong as you would expect from Skywalker.

The Rider Series in Skywalker C71 Construction

This range of boards is considerably less expensive than the Pro Range. We use our traditional technology: Strong PBT foil protecting the laminate, the AIREX C71 core, stainless steel inserts, high resistant PVC rails similar to the snowboard industry standard. It costs less because of the reduced labor intensive process and equipment changes. However we made sure that the savings don’t mean any decrease in the quality and functionality of the board. The Rider Series benefits from the new technology and design input from the Dimitri Pro Model Range. The Rider Series Boards were developed for the kiter who wants a board designed by a World Class Team but hasn’t got a world class budget.

For the past year The UK Team has been thrashing these boards in the most extreme conditions. Ian Colgan scored a second overall in the Irish Championships riding the 130 Pro, would of been 1st except for a slight drinking incident that got him and 15 other discounted from the final event Fin Lucas grabed a 3rd. Its been all good news,
NO warranty claims, NO breakages, NO straps pulling out, No splits, cracks or delaminations, In fact nothing other than a perfect ride, thats what its all about. Grab a demo soon and read the feedback on the Forums it all makes good reading.

oh well this threads about the boards not pro riders who do what we all would like to do and that is travel the world kiting the best spots, drooooooooool  but at least we can ride their boards anyways. Classic sess yesterday on the 127 at SS, cross off and nice waves, makes a pleasant change to usual choppy mush.

Just been out to my toy-store to give the 'Dimitri Pro' a bit of loving.

Such a lovely board, going to take some photos and try to show the tip shape that I changed.

Later.

Just going for another hug.

Who's slating them?

The point is simply that to claim, or suggest, as Lewis is - that KPWT or PKRA entry is the measure of whether a kiter is internationally influential or not is false.

Vari, Wilson, Dre - these kiters don't, or don't any longer, enter such comps - but does that mean they're not influential? No.
