what happened to kitecrowd ?

Shoot the breeze and stay in the loop with the unhinged and unhooked word on the street.

Mr Mclean is still active on facebook. I had to warm one of my buddies about him when they started talking about foilboards etc.
I still have a link on my desk top to "new posts" on this forum just to keep an eye out for topics worthy of discussion. Kitepants etc

I actually think 'social media' is far less suited to the sort of things being discussed here - technique/gear advice etc.

I really like this forum and it's been very useful for my painfully slow learning curve. I guess most topics are well covered now and it acts more like an archive for reference (no bad thing) whilst all the 'chat' has moved onto Facebook.

Thats about right i reckon! Even though the post rate isn't what it was, the site still has a lot of other good stats, such as visits and page views
I think most people visit the new posts page first, check whats going on and decide if they want to hang around and read stuff or not

I might be wrong on this one, but I think the small groups that have formed on social media have created lots of smaller communities based around a particular area or beach and that is now a first stop for a lot of people. Back in the day, when this forum first started it was more of a national community. it was great, really good vibe, I could be 300 mile away from where I live and people knew who I was, I've lost count of the number of times people have come up to me on a beach and asked if I was Tony from Kiteboarder and thanked me for running a great forum!

I'm always open to feedback on how to improve the forum, I've included face book log in and the ability to share on social media, attachments are activated in a lot of areas (have to be careful with that one as it can take up a lot of disk space) The News Room seems to work well, taking RSS feeds from various websites, but mostly from Vimeo, took a few attempts to get it right and had to get rid of a few very prolific posters from the broader world of sport!
I think the main logo could do with an update though, need to give it a fresh face I think

If I can find "those threads", I might move them back into the public domain, now the dust has settled

Yeah I wondered where GRF had been hanging out :P
Cheeky fucker, I'm still here, don't get to meet as many posters as I did back in the days of Lunnon drinks and all the demos we used to do, so can't really come on and expose all the latter day bomo's to my unique ripostes and acquired taste in humour.

However, you'll still bump into me on that Facebook of joy, especially if you take the name of Core in vain.

As to that Kitecrowd, I lost my sign in same as the OP, I used to hang out there as Derek Rides, but sorry, I pay no one for the privilege of my wit and typing expertise.

I heard kitecrowd was hacked and lost a load of data and old posts etc. It appears to have wiped accounts out and stopped people loggin in again..
